Staff Suitability and Recruitment Standards

At Renaissance Nurseries, the safety, welfare, and development of every child is our highest priority. As such, we are committed to ensuring that all individuals employed within the organisation are fully suitable to work with children. We implement a rigorous and robust recruitment process in line with safer recruitment guidance. All prospective employees including volunteers are required to attend a interview and must undergo a comprehensive series of pre-employment checks prior to commencing their role. These checks include an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, verification of the Right to Work in the UK, and the receipt of satisfactory references. All new staff members participate in a structured induction programme designed to familiarise them with the nursery’s policies, procedures, and values. In addition, all employees are subject to a minimum six-month probationary period during which their suitability for the role is closely monitored and reviewed. Renaissance Nurseries is committed to maintaining high standards of care and education. We aim for 100% of staff working directly with children to hold a current and valid Paediatric First Aid Certificate. Staff working with babies receive specific training relevant to infant care and development. Our team holds a broad spectrum of qualifications and experience. These range from Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Early Years to postgraduate degrees in Childcare and Education and Qualified Teachers. We also value the contribution of staff who may not hold formal qualifications but bring with them extensive practical experience in caring for children, whether gained through previous roles in Early Years settings or through their own parenting experience. This commitment to high standards ensures that every member of our team contributes to a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children in our care.

The management team carries out regular learning walks to observe practice, monitor the quality of provision, and identify areas for improvement. These are integral to ensuring consistency, promoting reflective practice, and maintaining high standards across all rooms and age groups. All staff are required to complete a comprehensive and mandatory training programme as part of their ongoing professional development. This includes regular Safeguarding and Child Protection training, supported by routine quizzes and knowledge checks to ensure understanding and compliance with statutory guidance.
